Before becoming a born-again Christian, Athena earned recognition and success in the business world, developing large national organizations with two different marketing companies. After being saved out of the Church of Scientology and other New Age religions, Athena was convicted by God at the height of her financial success that her efforts were leading others away from Christ and toward the things of the world. Since then her efforts have centered around warning Christians of the dangers found in an all-out pursuit of success at any cost.

Athena is a popular author and speaker. Her first book Consumed by Success: Reaching the Top and Finding God Wasn't There has received international recognition and expansive media exposure. She has appeared on "The 700 Club", Larry Burkett's "Money Matters", Moody Network's "Prime Time America" and many other national television and radio programs. Her "Issues of the Heart" presentation warns pastors and their congregations of the dangers involved in multi-level marketing. This frank and timely message has been praised by leaders who have waited for someone to address from experience the issue of "get rich quick" programs invading the church. The sequel to Consumed, All That Glitters Is Not God: Breaking Free from the Sweet Deceit of Multi-Level Marketing has also caused many Christians to think twice about getting involved in multi-level marketing.

Athena has ministered extensively to women who suffer from post-traumatic stress as a result of childhood abuse, domestic violence, rape, abortion or other traumatic experiences. She is actively involved in women's ministries in a local church plant in Enumclaw, Washington.

Athena works at WinePress Publishing, the support organization she developed from a small home business to one of today's leading self-publishing companies.  WinePress has helped hundreds of Christian authors, pastors, ministries and missionaries get their messages published.
